VidMob App Professionally Edited Videos

With all of the new mobile technology available, many people are taking more photos and videos. Digital media plays an important role in everything from capturing memories during family events to communicating business news and insights.  Techlicious.com invited TechMamas.com to work on a sponsored project with VidMob, an app that makes it easy to get edited professional videos from mobile devices like tablets or smartphones. This opportunity was a perfect fit for my editing needs, I had so many raw video files either stored in the cloud or my phone but no time to edit.  Not having edited videos was holding me back from creating the corresponding content on my website and social media platforms. So I was excited to give VidMob a try!

The founder of VidMob also experienced similar challenges to mine: “VidMob was born from personal pain,” said Alex Collmer, the company’s Founder and CEO.  “Like so many people I know, I had enormous quantities of little video clips and photos scattered between my Camera Roll and my cloud accounts, and no real way to turn them into quality content. And I knew that tens of millions of businesses were also experiencing the same problem—how to take that raw media and affordably create the daily video content that their Facebook and Twitter channels now demand. The team at VidMob is trying to solve this problem.”

The VidMob app, currently in iTunes store, enables anyone to create video projects from mobile devices by first loading the video and media files, choosing from a selection of experienced video editors and then approving the final edit.  The media files can come from your device, DropBox or even Facebook. Users are notified when their draft is ready and then communicate feedback or questions back to the editor.  Once the user approves the draft, they simply accept the work and then the project is finished.

I used our family iPad (iOS 9.1) to access the raw files stored in Dropbox for videos on a new STEM product we reviewed. The product is called Kano, a computer and coding kit for kids.  The kit had a storybook that my 12-year-old used to build the computer while my older son/videographer (Ben) filmed the video.  Listed below are the steps to create a video project on VidMob:

Step 1: Download VidMob from iTunes

Step 2: Create Your Project – Choose a project name and then select the media files that need to be included in the project. The files can be photos or videos. You can collaborate with others by inviting them to the project.

Next step is choosing a Category (such as family or Business), turnaround time and notes to the editor.

After that, you will be shown a selection of editors available. A bid price will be displayed along with editors background, sample work and notes such as what the services include. When you find an editor you want for the project, choose “Accept Bid.”  The next screen is for payment. When payment is successful, you will get a notification.  You can then send a note introducing yourself to the editor and choose if you are going to use your music or have your editor choose music for you.

Step 3: Review Video Draft – The active projects section in the app shows the status of the project.  The app inbox provides the ability to communicate notes and feedback to the editor, and for the editor to communicate with you. When the video edits are final, you simply accept the project to access your finished video.

I enjoyed working with my editor who took my raw video clips and condensed them into a great professionally edited video. That enabled me to load the Kano Computer Kit review video to my TechMamas.com YouTube Channel and then embed in a blog post on my website.  The easy to use interface made the project flow smoothly and gave me the ability to communicate when needed.  Just knowing there is an economical and easy to use solution for video editing will inspire me to create more video content for my website!
